Festival of the Bells Parade

The Festival of the Bells will once again begin with the annual parade on Thursday, July 6th.  The theme for this year’s parade is “United We Stand”.  All organizations, churches, businesses, and interested individuals are invited and encouraged to participate.  Parade line-up begins at 4:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds.  Judging will begin at 4:30 p.m. for floats.  The parade will arrive uptown at 6:30 p.m.   Awards will be given in the following categories:  Best Theme, Most Patriotic, Best Religious, and Most Humorous.

 

WAIVER, RELEASE FROM LIABILITY AND
HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT
I/We, _______________________________________________, the undersigned, hereby acknowledge receipt of permission to use the grounds and/or other facilities owned and operated by the City of Hillsboro.
In consideration of the permission allowed hereunder, I/We understand that I/We participate AT MY/OUR OWN RISK. I/We hereby agree that I/We release from liability and hold harmless the City of Hillsboro, the Festival of the Bells Committee, the Highland County Commissioners and Sponsors of the event from all liability to me/us and my/our heirs, assigns, and personal injuries or property damage sustained by me/us while using the buildings, grounds or other facilities.
“USE” does not include and the undersigned are under no circumstances permitted to video tape any of the proceedings throughout the festival.
In accepting the permission to use the grounds, property or other facilities under the Waiver, release from Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement, I/We understand that this includes any personal injury or property damage which I/We sustain regardless of how such injury may arise and regardless of who is at fault and even if the injury or damage is caused by neglect or fault of the City of Hillsboro, The Festival of the Bells, Highland County Commissioners or the event sponsors.
I/We further acknowledge that our participation and use is NOT COVERED by any insurance policy obtained by the Festival of the Bells Committee. Also, that we acknowledge that any insurance that we may obtain is recommended but shall be at our own option and our own cost.
I/We further understand and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Hillsboro, the Festival of the Bells Committee, Highland County Commissioners and the event sponsors for personal injuries or property damage sustained by any person who, at my/our invitation, enters upon the grounds or other facilities owned by the City of Hillsboro regardless of how such injury or damage arises and regardless of who is at fault and even is such injury or damage is caused by the negligence or fault of the City of Hillsboro, the Festival of the Bells Committee, Highland County Commissioners or the event sponsors.

Annual Cornhole Tournament

On July 8th , the Hillsboro FFA Chapter will host their annual cornhole tournament at the Festival of The Bells. Registration will start at 9 a.m., followed by the tournament at 10 a.m. The cost to register will be $20 per team. The tournament will be using process of double elimination. Festival Finds Scavenger Hunt

Festival Finds Scavenger Hunt was so much fun last year, it is now an annual event. Teams of 2 will register at the Information Booth, then race to complete a list of interesting details about the festival. Contestants must be at least 16 years of age or accompanied by an adult (minors will need a Waiver Form signed by parent). Teams could be comprised of parent/child, friends, etc. Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Winners will receive their choice, with the 1st place team choosing first, of 2 VIP tickets for the Saturday evening concert, 2 Meet and Greet passes for Brett Young, or a basket of festival items.
Winners will be based upon which team correctly completes all items in the shortest time. Completed forms need to be returned to the Information Booth. Any incorrect responses may be corrected and resubmitted.
Registration will begin on Saturday, July 8th at 12:30 p.m. and the contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. All contestants will need a digital camera or phone with camera.

RULES:

Teams must consist of only 2 members, must be at least 16 years of age or accompanied by an adult. (Minors must have a Waiver Form signed by a parent or guardian.)
Selfie pictures must include both team members.
Lanyard must be worn at all times.
Participants must be considerate of customers at booths when locating information.
Completed form and pictures (phone or digital camera) must be returned to the Information Booth to be checked for accuracy. Incorrect answers may be redone and resubmitted.
Winners are the teams with all correct answers and submitted in the shortest time.

 

Festival of the Bells Children’s Choir

The opening ceremony for the 2017 Festival of the Bells will include the National Anthem sung by a choir of school aged children, grades one through six. Any child who would like to be a part of the choir is invited to attend practice dates and times will be announced. Each child should be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Children should be familiar with the words to the “Star Spangled Banner” in order to participate. For more information, contact Bev Carroll, festival committee member, at 393-5410 or 937-725-5208.

Entry forms can be dropped off at First Financial Bank at 310 North High Street Hillsboro or emailed to Aubrey at aubrey.robinson@bankatfirst.com .  You may register the day of the Parade on the courthouse lawn. Saturday July 8th. Registration begins at 10:00 am. The 2017 Baby Parade Begins at 10:30 am.

  • Parade is open to all Highland county residents.
  • Participants ages Birth - 5 years old.
  • Please make sure all clothing is age appropriate.
  • Bad sportsmanship will result in immediate disqualification.
  • The Judges’ decisions are final. Score sheets will not be given out.
  • BE CREATIVE and HAVE FUN

Metals will be given for 1st 2nd and 3rd place in each age bracket. 1 Overall best of show will be awarded.  Participant Ribbons will be given to all children.
